What’s orange & round, with two big eyes, a crooked nose and a big silly grin on its face? Ask any pre-school child from Williams School – They would probably enthusiastically say – “It’s a pumpkin from the Williams Memorial Pumpkin Patch!” How do they know? Because Farmer Mack and Mrs. Pumpkin say, “when God’s light is on the inside – you just have to SMILE!!20“
God has blessed the Pumpkin Patch outreach project for nine great years and we are very grateful for the support that the Williams Memorial family has given through their time, donations and effort. This year the Missions Team, with the direction of Tommy Burton will be asking again for your energy, generosity and commitment to support this project. The proceeds will support Society of St. Stephen and Youth Missions. The Society of St. Stephen ministers to the local community by providing food and assistance for over 100 people each month. Youth Mission projects for 2010 include UM Army for Sr. High, Big House for Jr. High and a Family Mission Trip to UMCOR’s Sager Brown Depot in Baldwin, LA. Pray that God will use your talents for His work in these areas of missions!
God has blessed us each year with the beauty of his creation – pumpkins, sunshine, and people. Each week day, local school children, parents and teachers are greeted by storytellers, Farmer Ma ck and Mrs. Pumpkin (Mack & Sherry Endsley) among many other volunteers. They learn about God’s love for His unique creation, sing songs, taste a pumpkin muffin, hear stories and bring home a pumpkin or gourd.
God has blessed us with relaxing moments. There are so many ways to enjoy the Pumpkin Patch. Photo opportunities are endless. Kids dressed in costumes & babies in the red wagon? Nothing cuter! Homecoming or reunion pictures, grandkids and pets – all are great subjects. Glowing orange, yellow & red colors in the late day sun… Get your cameras ready! Bring a lawn chair and a good book or toss a football with friends. Instant cure for stress!
God has blessed us with Fellowship. Fall decorations of hay bales, scarecrows, flowers , old buckets and wagons make the Pumpkin Patch a perfe ct place for group gatherings. Plan your next Sunday School party, committee meeting or luncheon out in the Pumpkin Patch – it’s a party waiting to happen! Family fun night, hosted by Williams Youth, on Sunday Oct. 25 is a great time to invite friends and celebrate God’s love in fellowship.
