All our music and arts programs begin. There is new music and great rehearsals planned.
Chancel Choir has begun rehearsals already, but it is still a great time to join. We are involved in the Methodist Men’s Pavilion Showcase August 20. We begin cantata rehearsals August 25. This is a great way to participate in the worship leadership of the church. We are blessed with a great choir, and we need even more willing singers. Please join us 7:00 p.m. Wednesday nights in the choir room which is located by the chapel. My cell number is 903-278-0499.
Wesley Ringers will begin Monday September 13 at 8:30 a.m. There are a couple of spots open at this time. If you are interested in being a ringer or a substitute, let me know.
Our children’s Alive at Five ministry starts September 12. Ageless Handchimes begin that week, too. Please contact Amy Kirk 903-276-8576 or Sherri Waters 903-278-0499 if you are interested in ringing. One of the great things about this group is parents and grandparents are welcome to ring with the children. It is rare in our culture to have a time when children and adults work and play together. It is a great opportunity for fellowship.
Liturgical Dance will be directed by Sherri Waters, with guest instructors through the year. I have done musical theater professionally, so I have skills for direction and will be able to teach the worship pieces. Please let me know if you would like to be a part of this group. Suzi Mercy will help with the outfits again. We are blessed to have her special ministry to this group. The time I have planned is Wednesday afternoons at 5:30 as the youth schedule permits.
The Tribe of Dan is active in doing worship visuals for both our worship spaces. This is a behind-the-scenes ministry that blesses worshipers in providing extra focus points during services. If you are interested in being a part of this ministry contact Suzi Mercy or Sherri Waters.
Lay readers assist with services by leading responsive readings of Psalms and by reading the scripture for the day. They also lead the Affirmation of Faith. We have a training that will be held soon, so contact Sherri Waters if you are interested in going through the training and to become a lay reader.
