All Campus Retreat

All Campus Retreat is a time when Wesley Foundations and student ministries all over the conference get together to worship God, rejuvenate, and fellowship with one another. This year the retreat will be Friday February 17th – Sunday Feb. 19th at Lakeview Camp in Palestine, TX. The cost is $75 per person. Contact Kaitlin if you would like to go.

The Mix

An all denominational worship service on the campus of A&M Texarkana. This is a great time to meet, worship, and fellowship with other college age christians in Texarkana. We meet every Thursday night at 8 p.m. in Eagle Hall. The Mix will start back after the holidays on Thursday, January 19th.

College UM Army

A week long mission trip in the Texas region. It is sort of like high school UM Army, but much more laid back. We worship hard and work hard! This year we will be serving in Tyler, TX May 20th – May 26th.

Bible Study

Join us for our Spring Bible study, Christianity and World Religions, by Adam Hamilton. We will learn about other world religions and how to better appreciate them. Starting Monday, January 30th at 6:30 p.m. in room 132 at Williams Memorial UMC.

Next August, Williams College and Young Adults will be going on their first international mission trip to Eleuthera, The Bahamas. We will be working with Bahamas Methodist Habitat on the small J shaped island of Eleuthera.

Bahamas Methodist Habitat is a disaster relief and emergency home repair outreach ministry of the Bahamas Conference of the Methodist Church through which volunteers work together to repair and build homes for low-income families in the Bahamas while sharing and receiving the love of Christ.

We will leave Texarkana on August 5, 2012, and will return on August 12, 2012. The cost of the trip is $600 per person at camp plus airfare and passport costs (estimated $1200 per. person). This is an expensive trip and is a lot of money for college aged students to sacrifice. This mission is dear to many young people’s hearts and with hard work, the support of family, friends and the church and of course God’s blessings, the money can be raised for these young people.

Our first fundraiser will be through catalog sales of Equal Exchange products such as free trade coffees, teas, chocolates and other goods. There is also a wide variety of handmade and organic products that will make great Christmas presents and will benefit both Equal Exchange and our trip to the Bahamas. Make sure you track down a young adult and order today! This fundraiser will end on Sunday, November 28th and items should be in by December 15th for delivery and pickup.

We need couples, families, and individuals who are interested in adopting a Texarkana College or Texas A&M Texarkana student for the school year of 2011-2012. We need people who

a) like college students,

b) want to make a difference in a college student’s life, and

c) like to feed college students!

Move in Day

We need volunteers for move in day at TAMU Texarkana to help parents and students get moved into their dorm rooms. We will also be cooking hot dogs on site, passing out water bottles and representing the Williams church family.  Move in day at TAMU Texarkana is Saturday, August 20th 8:00 a.m. to noon.

Life gets really busy in college, and it doesn’t look like that’s going to change much when college is over and careers, partners, and babies get thrown into the mix one day. So how do we make time to develop our faith and spend time in God’s word?

In my experience it’s pretty dang hard to do it alone. Just like I need a partner to go to the gym and make healthy choices with me, I need a partner that will always encourage me to get into God’s word and someone who will have thought provoking conversations with me about faith and love. Matthew 18:20 says, “Where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them.”

In addition to our Monday night Bible Study, Williams College and Young Adults will be kicking off our new worship service, Unplugged, on Wednesday June 1st. Unplugged will be a service with acoustic worship music, a message, and discussion. It will be a chance for you to unplug from the stress of the week, relax, and worship the Lord our God. Unplugged will be the first Wednesday of every month at 7 P.M. in the Courtyard or in the Chapel when the weather is bad.
