College years bring a lot of firsts. Your first time to live in a different town, first time away from your best friend, first real romantic relationship. A lot of people experience death and grief for the first time during college, whether that be a family member, a professor, or a friend. College is full of firsts. Most of them are really great experiences that you’ll tell stories about for the rest of your life, but sometimes firsts result in hard life lessons to learn.

With so many firsts going on at once it’s sometimes hard to make a decision, or at least feel confident in the decision you made. College is a time when church and a personal relationship with God might not be at the top of your priority list. Why on Earth would you want to get up early on Sunday morning when you went to bed just a few hours before?

You’re busy with school, portfolios, social life, and finding time to go home to see your family and friends. You are busy people! But see it or not, when you are the busiest is the time in your life you need God the most. You need God with you to support you through the crazy times, to give you advice on the tough decisions that you will without a doubt face everyday.

Sometimes that’s saying, “Ok God, give me the strength to get out of bed and make it to my 8 o’clock class.” Sometimes that’s “God, my dream has always been to be a doctor, but I can’t pass this biology class for the life of me…what should I do?”

Making the right choice is tricky, but remember that Proverbs 3:5-6 says “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.”

Decisions are hard. That’s why we are beginning a new study on Thursday November 4th called “Your Move: Four questions to ask when you don’t know what to do” by Andy Stanley. Come check out Williams College and Young Adults in November on Thursday nights at 7 p.m. at the Good Treasures Bookstore for a meal and discussion!

Buy a pillow case, send a bible to someone in need...find out more!

When I was a little girl, I found, and still do find, comfort in the Bible. When I was scared, I would put it under my pillow, or sleep with my hands touching the pages. Sleeping with my Bible made me feel better. More secure.

I still do that to this day. And one night after sleeping with a large lump under my pillow, I thought how cool it would be to have the WORD of God printed on my pillowcase. If you are like me, you have 1,000’s of ideas that come and go, but this one was different. It wouldn’t leave me alone! Little did I know, that God had big plans for this small piece of fabric we lay our head on every night, to be used for HIS glory… and He pieced the puzzle together perfectly. Piece by piece.

Not knowing that I was looking for someone to make each pillowcase unique and special, (because folks, I can draw a stick figure and that’s it!) a lady, who I didn’t know, sent me a picture of a cross she made. Custom with calligraphy and a cross penny my dad punched on it. From that email, I knew that SHE was the one I was looking for to pen each scripture for the pillowcases! Talk about a God-appointed email!!

So now I had the designer, I was on my way to printing but something just wasn’t right…my heart wasn’t in it just for retail, I desired this to be a ministry!

Then God gave us the idea to make this a true ministry with the REST and BLESS Outreach! With each pillowcase purchased, a Bible will be given to the homeless, orphaned or widowed here in the US. We’ve contacted several ministries to make this happen… from street ministers to homeless shelters to nursing homes. You buy the pillowcase, then we ship a Bible.

You REST on the Word and you BLESS someone with the Word… literally!

You can find Pillows of Truth pillowcases in the Good Treasures bookstore or online at www.pillowsoftruth.com

Smiles and Hugs,
