As of February 11th, we have raised $1,956.10. At an approximate cost of $12 per health kit, we have so far raised enough money for 163 kits. We only have 337 kits or $4,043.90 to reach our goal.

As of February 9, 2010, over 100,000 health kits have been assembled at the UMCOR Sager Brown Depot in Baldwin, La. This has been a wonderful response to the earthquake. Health kits provide the basic necessities for those who have been forced to leave their homes. They are such a blessing to those who have lost everything. To learn more about health kits go to the following UMCOR web site. http://new.gbgm-umc.org/umcor/getconnected/supplies/health-kit/

“Thank you for your generous support. Health kits are still needed and being accepted at all United Methodist depots. UMCOR is securing warehouse space in Haiti to which the kits will be shipped and from which they will be distributed to a population that urgently needs them.” (From the UMCOR website http://new.gbgm-umc.org/Umcor/)

“The UMCOR Sager Brown Depot in Baldwin, La., is the headquarters for UMCORs relief supply operations. Approximately $4 million in supplies are shipped each year from the Baldwin, La. campus. More than 2,000 volunteers that come through Sager Brown each year make these shipments happen.”

It is going to be many years before Haiti completely recovers from this disaster, and UMCOR has long range work plans in place that consist of 3 phases over the next 5 years. Our youth have plans as well. They are going to be volunteering this summer at the UMCOR Sager Brown Depot in Baldwin, La. Thank you for supporting UMCOR. Thank you for supporting our youth group. Please continue to pray for Haiti. God bless!

Have a youth in the youth program here at WMUMC.. Here's what you need to know!!!

I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend! The youth have a lot going on this semester and to get all the details (not just dates and times) it is extremely important that everyone attends the parent meeting. It will be Sunday, January 10 at 4:00 in Wesley Hall. We will be handing out calendars, 2010 liability forms, and going over trip information, summer mission trips, and volunteer opportunities (for you and your youth). Also, if you have a youth who is not involved but you would like for them to get active at Williams, this will be a great opportunity for them to check out our programs and meet Tommy Earl and me.

MYF will start back up on Sunday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Tommy Earl will be having a game night and introducing the youth to our plans for the 2010 year.

This Sunday is also the last day to sign up for our winter retreat to Sky Ranch. We will be leaving at 5:00 on Friday, January 15 and return Sunday, January 17 after lunch. Sky Ranch is in Van, TX outside of Tyler and is a Christian retreat facility. The cost is $100 which includes lodging and all meals for Saturday and Sunday. The only extra cost is $12 for horseback riding. The space is limited so if your child is interested please contact me ASAP!

If you have any questions about our upcoming meeting or retreat please contact me. Thanks, Courtney 903-276-0445
