Each year, the 5th and 6th graders (Junior Youth Fellowship) host a dinner or lunch to raise money for various mission projects.

This year all the proceeds from the Pancake supper will benefit two wonderful ministries, Society of St. Stephen and Watersprings Ranch.

Society of St. Stephen is a ministry of our church which provides food boxes and a meal for those in need.

Watersprings Ranch is a tax exempt, nonprofit, Christian organization that welcome children, 12 years of age or younger, who have suffered relentless abuse or severe emotional and physical neglect.

Suggested donations for the Pancake supper are $5.00 and tickets will be sold during Sunday morning in the welcome center and at the door.

Chrysalis is a three day spiritual retreat for youth created by Upper Room Ministries. During the three day weekend where youth ages 15-18 join with other people their age in worship, prayer, fellowship, creative expression, recreation, singing, and discussion.” (upperroom.org) Chrysalis is the teenage version of Walk to Emmaus, also created by Upper Room Ministries. The biological term chrysalis is the transformation that a caterpillar goes through to become a butterfly. At Chrysalis youth are transformed through Christ. Chrysalis is open to youth who are 15 and have completed the 9th grade to age 18. After 18 a person can go on Walk to Emmaus.

Everyone who goes on Chrysalis or Emmaus has a unique experience. I personally learned that I am a beautiful unique creation who is loved by my Creator and that God has a purpose for me in this world. I also became part of community of Christians. I often joke that between my extended family and the contacts I’ve made through Chrysalis/Emmaus I can get stranded in any town in Texas east of San Antonio and have somewhere to crash. I have had the pleasure of working several Chrysalis flights and have enjoyed the experience. In my flight I learned how to be a leader in the church and I have used those leadership skills in the flights I’ve worked.

Wednesday November 9th

This Wednesday at 3:40 p.m. I’ll be at the Sonic on Richmond Road again. Join me for a time of fellowship.

High School Bible study meets this coming Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. -7:00 p.m. in the youth center. We are on our last session,  which it titled “Go,” of our small group study “Change the World: Recovering the Message and Mission of Jesus.” Our theme for this session is “You are God’s plan for changing the world.” Our scripture is Matthew 25:31-46; 28:18-20.

After our study, we will go to the Subway on Richmond Road for a meal and fellowship. Youth need to provide their own ride and money. This is for all youth in 9th – 12th grade; both boys and girls.

Friday November 11th

Youth are going to be building the modules for our wheelchair ramp project from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the parking lot outside the youth center. If you want to help, please be at the youth center at 4:00 p.m.

Saturday November 12th

Williams youth will be building a wheelchair ramp here in Texarkana on Saturday November 12th! We will be volunteering with the Kiwanis Club, and Runnin WJ Ranch. Be at the youth center at 8:00 a.m., and we should be arriving back at the youth center by approximately 4:30 p.m. Lunch will be provided at McDonald’s. Youth need to bring some money for snacks or a drink.

Youth will need a signed and notarized 2011 liability release form in order to travel with the youth group. These can be found in the Welcome Center, or in the church office. Jolena Hays, our administrator, will be available this week until 4:00 p.m. each day to notarize your completed form.

Sunday November 13th

Youth is this Sunday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p. m. We are continuing our small group study on “Moral Boundaries – Dating.” Are we establishing and maintaining godly moral boundaries in our lives? Our Key passage for this study in 1 Thessalonians 4:3-8.

We will gather in the youth center for a meal beginning at approximately 5:00 p. m., followed by a fun game, worship with our youth band “Broken & Perfect,” we will hear a short message concerning “Moral Boundaries,” and then we will break into our small groups. This is for all youth who are in the 7th through 12th grades. Join us this Sunday evening, and invited a friend.

Wednesday November 2nd

 Sunday November 6th

Youth and adults are asked to help clean up the Pumpkin Patch immediately after church this Sunday. Once again, thanks to all who volunteered and made our Pumpkin Patch successful again this year.

Teams are needed to cook chili for our chili cook off contest. Can’t cook? It’s ok, you can still help out by volunteering to help setup tables, chairs, and games this Sunday at 2:00 p.m.. You can also fill out one of the orange sign up sheets in the welcome center to help out with sales in the pumpkin patch.

5th Sunday Pancake Breakfast this Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a. m. in the Parlor. This is a fund raiser for youth missions, and donations are appreciated. Youth and adults who want to help cook need to be in the Wesley Hall kitchen by 7:00 a.m. Thank you for supporting your youth missions.

Pumpkin Palooza is this Sunday from 4:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. Youth and adults are needed to be at the church at 2:00 p.m. to help set up tables, chairs, and games. Volunteers will be needed to stay and clean up as well. Thank you so much for making Pumpkin Patch and Pumpkin Palooza a success every year.
