Joining

Joining
After you have visited with us you may be asking how you can become a member of this congregation. By joining you are making a commitment to attend and support this church, and you are coming into a loving church family who will surround and support you. There are three basic ways that you can become a new member.
Profession of Faith
If you have not confessed your faith in Jesus Christ and wish to live a Christian life you may join by what is called a Profession of Faith. You will be asked to confirm your intent by answering these questions:
“Do you here in the presence of God and of this congregation renew the solemn promise and vow that you made, or was made in your name at the time of your Baptism?”
“Do you confess Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and pledge your allegiance to his kingdom?”
“Do you receive and profess the Christian faith as contained in the scriptures of the Old and New Testaments?”
“Do you promise according to the grace given to you to live a Christian life and always remain a faithful member of Christ’s holy Church?”
We recognize the sacrament of Baptism as administered by all Christian churches. If you have not previously been baptized, the minister will administer the Sacrament prior to your Profession of Faith.
Vows
If you are already a member of another denomination, we will recieve you by vows. You will be asked this question:
“Will you be loyal to the United Methodist Church and uphold it by your prayers, your presence, your gifts and your service?”
After recieveing you into the church, we will contact your former church and advise them of your new membership.
Transfer of Membership
If you are a member of another congregation of the United Methodist Church, we will receive you by Transfer of Membership. It is not necessary that you have your church letter before being recieved into membership. The church office will write and secure a Certificate of Transfer for you.
If you have any questions about joining the church that we have not answered already, or if you feel you are ready to join, please email our Associate Pastor Frank Coats
